Courtney Black

2012 Water Leaders Alumni

Courtney is a Senior Water Resources Engineer at Headwaters Corporation.  She has a diverse portfolio of technical, management and planning experience in water resources. This encompasses the management of local-driven interdisciplinary drought early warning systems throughout the country, western water rights litigation support, environmental assessments, wetland design and treatment, and stakeholder engagement. Her water resources planning expertise focuses on municipal water supply and demand projections, conservation planning, and drought planning. She earned her B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Lehigh University and her M.S. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Florida.   Courtney has served as the AWRA Education Committee Chair and Director-at-Large.  She has also been involved with a Nepal Engineers Without Borders project where she spent several weeks surveying the pipeline route for a drinking water distribution system in a small Himalayan village.  A Colorado native, she is passionate about the water resources field in the State and enjoys the outdoors, yoga and adventures in far corners of the world.
