Pat Wells

2012 Water Leaders Alumni

MPW_01 Patrick Wells is the Managing Engineer for Colorado Springs Utilities' Water Resources Planning Group. Mr. Wells works on a wide range of projects, activities, and issues involving water supply planning, water rights protection and development, regional collaboration and negotiation, and policy development and implementation.  Prior to joining the Water Supply Resources Section, Patrick worked as an environmental engineer, both as a consultant, and later as an employee of Colorado Springs Utilities’ Environmental Services Department. During his time as an environmental engineer, Patrick served as a project manager and subject matter expert on numerous environmental compliance, monitoring, and remediation efforts throughout Colorado, the United States, and overseas.

Mr. Wells oversees four staff who are responsible for long-term water supply planning for the City of Colorado Springs. He currently serves as an out-of-basin member on the Colorado River Basin Roundtable, and is working with a diverse group of stakeholders to develop an alternative management plan to a Wild & Scenic Rivers designation on the Upper Colorado River. Patrick is a native of Gunnison, Colorado and holds a bachelor of science degree in geological engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, fishing, and nature photography.
