2017 Southwest Basin Tour

Registration is closed for this event

Join the Colorado Foundation for Water Education for the Southwest Basin Tour, hosted this year in Colorado's beautiful San Juan mountains. Tour attendees will have the opportunity to visit sites up and down the San Miguel River, from Telluride to the confluence with the Dolores River, hearing from local water managers, city officials, conservation groups and business leaders about local water management considerations, economic development, and collaborative restoration projects in the San Miguel and Dolores watersheds. Share a unique educational experience with other tour participants, which will include members of the Colorado legislative Interim Water Resources Review Committee, and get an in-depth look at how the Southwest Basin Implementation Plan is being put into action.

Can't get enough of the Southwest? Conclude the tour with an optional whitewater rafting trip on the San Miguel River! Local outfitter Telluride Outside is offering a special discounted rate for our tour group. Participants will experience 9 miles of nearly nonstop Class II and III whitewater. This will be the high water season, so the trip is guaranteed to be fast, wet and a lot of fun.

This two-day tour includes lunches both day and dinner on June 13. Participants are welcome to make their own reservations at the Peaks Hotel, where the tour begins and ends, but this is not required and Telluride has many other accommodations available.
