In June 2015, CFWE explored water efficiency along Colorado's Front Range with a diverse group of about 50 participants. We had a great time on our summer 2013 Platte River Tour when the CFWE bus crossed state lines for the first time. Participants learned about the Platte River Recovery Implementation Program and interstate water issues in Colorado, Wyoming, and Nebraska. In June 2014, CFWE and Yampa Basin Tour participants gained first-hand experiences learning about river recreation, agriculture, ecological health, future water demands and more in Northwestern Colorado's Yampa Basin. We were joined by a diverse group of elected officials, decision makers, water professionals, interested citizens and many others and visited exclusive sites and expert speakers. On June 20-21, 2013, CFWE staff, legislators, local water managers, water professionals, public officials and educators went on a fast-paced journey of the Colorado River headwaters. We visited exclusive sites and heard from expert speakers while networking with a fun and diverse group.
Tour participants gained a firsthand understanding of headwaters health for thriving communities and ecological sustainability plus the related impacts and benefits of transbasin diversions for statewide water supplies.
