Water Leaders Program

Applications Open for the 2018 Water Leaders Program!

The Water Leaders program is recognized as the premier professional development course for the water community in Colorado. Since 2006, the program has provided training to participants across Colorado, helping them become more effective leaders. Water Education Colorado staff has worked hard year after year to adapt and evolve the course to build the skills of water professionals that will prepare them to address current water issues by using the most advanced leadership development tools and trainings available, and we could not be more proud of the evolution of the program.

The goal of the Water Leaders program is to positively impact the Colorado water profession by developing a pipeline of water leaders across diverse fields with the knowledge and skills to navigate the complex world of Colorado water.

WHAT IS THE WATER LEADERS PROGRAM?
Describing the full depth of the Water Leaders Program without participating in it is hard to do, because Water Leaders is not your average leadership/professional development course. In partnership with Cheryl Benedict of MORF Consulting, the Water Leaders Program was uniquely developed with water professionals in mind. While there may be discussions throughout the course about navigating water in Colorado, the focus of the program truly is on individual growth and leadership development and is not an educational training on water topics. Participants receive extensive training in skills related to navigating conflict and diversity, leading self and others, and effective management and problem-solving tactics. Participants will have the opportunity to develop their leadership potential, no matter what level of leadership experience they enter the program with. Program participants benefit from extensive self-assessment, executive coaching, networking opportunities, and application of learning to water issues statewide. Program admission is based on competitive criteria, described in materials below.

Please review our FAQ document to learn more about the program. If you still have questions, please register for the 2018 Water Leaders Informational Webinar (registration link below).

Applications for the 2018 Water Leaders Program will be accepted from November 20, 2017, through January 15, 2018.

"This is an amazing program with incredible foresight. While the goal is developing future water leaders, as important are the connections that are created among diverse participants. "The issue of water in Colorado is very complex, and the Water Leaders Program will continue to pay dividends down the road as alumni continue moving into positions of higher leadership. The training and relationships will help us come together to tackle these problems in the future."
