Annual River Basin Tour

2010 Southwest Tour

Along with local water experts, CFWE delivered a fact-packed and educational 2.5-day journey across Southwestern Colorado. On the 2010 tour of the Dolores and San Juan river basins, a fun group of 90 legislators, water professionals and educators learned about watershed restoration and planning in this unique part of our state. Check out the slideshow on the right side of this page for some of the 2010 highlights, which included:

  • Rafting the Animas River and touring the ruins of Mesa Verde
  • Paleohydrology and ancient water use
  • Dolores River Project and environmental river flows
  • Lake Nighthorse, tribal water use and interstate compacts
  • Planning for munipal growth and energy development
  • River protection and recreational demands
